On Wednesday morning the Penrith Panthers confirmed the signing of four exciting young players for the 2016 season and beyond and one of those men was Ben Garcia, a nimble forward working the early stages of his career away with the Catalans Dragons in the English Super League.

Unsurprisingly there's been a bit of uncertainty about just who this Garcia bloke is, and we're here to help with that.

Garcia made his first team debut for Sporting Olympique Avignon in the French Elite One Championship before make his first trip to Australia where he spent a season playing for the Brisbane Broncos Under 20's squad in 2013.

After a strong season he made the return trip home after being picked up by the Catalans Dragons who've since made themselves post-season regulars in the Super League.

Despite only being in his second season in the Super League, Garcia is currently the equal third highest try scorer at the Catalans Dragons with 7 tries so far in 2015. Add to that 279 tackles, 24 tackle breaks, and only 2 errors (the least of any Dragon to have player more than 1 game this season), and it's easy to see why he's going to be a key acquisition for the Panthers in 2016.

Unbeknownst to some, Garcia even has international experience!

After injuries caused France a bit of concern ahead of the 2013 World Cup, Garcia was called up into the squad and ended up playing 3 matches for the side. He made 19 runs for 153m, 3 tackle breaks and tackled effectively at 81.7% for the duration of the tournament, certainly not setting the world on fire but making a solid international debut with plenty of future potential.

Now the next stage of his career is set to take place at the foot of the Blue Mountains and, while he'll likely come into a squad already bursting at the seams with backrowers, his acquisition is an exciting one for the Penrith Panthers.

How long do you think it will take Ben Garcia to crack into the Panthers NRL team?
